ABOUT BUBBACOAST.COM
Howdy! This site is dedicated to that special breed of bubbas you find down here in the coastal states (Texas, Louisiana, Florida, etc.). Like other bubbas, we use poor grammar and sport our mullets. But the "Bubba Coast" existence is heavy on fishing piers, cyclone fences, refinery life, oyster shell driveways and such—with a healthy dose of divorces, unemployment, and drunkenness. Oh, and tornados. And UFOs.

Everyone is welcome (no login required), so come on in--interact and share your stories, thoughts, and photos! Also, check out the main page to get the no-holds-barred gossip about Jimmy Jack Possum, Lonnie Pickens, Momma, T. Roy, Captain Baitfinger (no relation) and the other RV park tenants. And don't forget to visit the "bait shop" to check out the latest Bubba Wear—t-shirts, sweatshirts, and what not (with and without sleeves). Gitcha somethin' nice!

We'll leave the bug zapper on for ya!

The Gafftop Report

This fishing report is brought to you by Johnny Gafftop, an avid hardhead angler. Here's what the hardhead are biting on this week:

Sabine Pass (Walter Umphrey Pier): Socks
Galveston Jetty: Leaves
Freeport (Surfside Jetty): Shiny Hooks
Port Aransas (South Jetty): Rusty Hooks
Port Isabel (Brazos Santiago Pass): Shoestrings

WARNING:
Hardhead fishing is a dangerous sport and should not be attempted by anyone not trained in the handling of poisonous marine life.

Car-Driving Pig

Uh, yeah, you read correctly. This video is really short, but look carefully. I don't know what podunk Texas town this came out of, but, well, whatever. And what's up with that sound it's making?

Check it: Do you see the piggy?

Two Things that Really Happened

First, the flood last weekend. For those of you who don't understand the expression, "Lord willin' and the crick don't rise," here's a photo of the neighbor's house after an honest-to-God Texas flash-flood:

For the sake of comparison, here's the same house during last year's snow. Notice that it's not actually waterfront property, contrary to what it may look like in the prior photo.

Report from the RView (Got Religion?)

As Posted 5.15.07:

It was bound to happen sooner or later—Captain Baitfinger is back at the RV park.

A weekend or two ago, he was hitchhiking down I-10 around Sealy, with a fishing pole on his shoulder and a Bible under his arm. As luck would have it, Miss Edna—who never passes up the chance to nab herself a “conversatin’ buddy”—just happened to be on her way home after two straight months on the road, and picked him up. Neither one of them recognized each other,…

Some Spring Break Photos from Independence, TX

Independence, Texas is a stone's throw from our place out in Brenham, and we spent quite a bit of time hanging out there over spring break (especially at the Lueckemeyer General Store). Here are a couple of the photos we took:

ARTIST'S CORNER

Even though the late Gracie Fulton was not orignially from the Lone Star State, she was truly a Texan at heart. She told me more times than I can remember, "You Texans are so like Rhodesian farmers. We are all brothers and sisters." While we will miss her very badly, I'm thankful she was able to finish her wonderful book.

These musicians all have roots back to good ol' Santa Fe, TX.
